I'm really starting to think that i'm just unlucky. I understand about variance etc etc but it seems i win coming from behind in the 1st hand of a rebut tournament when it really doesnt make much difference and get really unlucky when it counts.

I'm not sure how to rectify, please see the below hand histories and say what you would do differently?!? Maybe betting the flop on the AQ v A10 hand but have a look......

Take a break

I'm going to stop playing for a little while i think. I'm not enjoying it really at the moment and there is no point playing i don't think when you feel bad.

I seem to be getting dead angry with everything at the moment and i don't know why. I can seem to get motivated by anything and get bored doing whatever i'm doing really quickly. I'll go over to my sisters with my mum and get bored after two minutes and want to be back home and then come back home and have nothing to do here. My mum and sister are in London at the moment so i was at home on my own yesterday and did nothing. I played some poker but didn't enjoy it and keep getting so angry with the other players when they make stupid plays and get lucky. So i end up stressed and i don't know why. My roll is about 330 Euro now which is down from the other week but i still need to remember it all started from 13euros....

I had a few films on yesterday such as eagle eye, disturbia, GI Joe and District 9. They were all good and worth a watch, especially eagle eye

Interview

Well the interview surprisingly went ok. They need to do all the checks and if they come out ok then i'll start on the 4th January. The problem is that i told them everything that will come up on the checks but i doubt they'll hire me due to the bankruptcy.

On the poker front i'm playing so badly at the moment. i lose concentration and make stupid plays..

Am just going to play the 1euro rebuy and the 1000euro 3 euro entry tournament on boss at 7pm and 7.35 and play those till i increase my roll.

I really should start setting some targets. I want to try and win 2 tourneys a month and final table 6 times and try and cash in 40% of tourneys entered..

I really need to start keeping proper records as well..

Job interview

Well i've got an interview tomorrow at Arriva (Norwich Union). It's not the best job but at least its work. I'm dreading the interview I really am. Not the interview itself, i could do the job with my eyes closed it's just the amount of information they want. I can see the conversation going something like this:

So why did you leave your last job?

Well i was caught with £50,000 worth of cocaine and arrested in the company car so resigned before being sent to prison for six months, during that time I was declared bankrupt so will fail the credit check you're going to do on me for the FSA, but do i get free health care with this job?!

Back on Stars

Well i realised the games i need to be playing are MTT of anything from 30 people up. Virgin don't have enough of these due to player traffic so set up an account in my mums name on pokerstars and deposited a tenner. The MTT on stars have daft guarantees for low stakes entry due to the amount of entries so i entered a $2 tournament with $1500 to the winner and 480 places paid and 4700 entrants. I ended up being donked out in 650th in a pot fof the chip lead when my aces got beaten all in after the flop of 9 6 2 rainbow by QQ when the queen hit the turn. AAAAAAARrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

I was playing some low level cash games on virgin and was up 6 buy ins at a 10 euro table so quit that up. I need to try and rake a bit more in the last few days of november to get into the top 10 rakers for the 500 euro freerole they offer, i'm 101st at the moment.

So i'm going to really hit the depositor freerole tournaments on pokerstars this weekend and regulaly play the 10Euro 3500 guarantee on virgin and a regular daily tournament on Pokerstars in the evening too. I'll also try to play the quarter million on stars and see if i can get to the million in a satellite. Saying all that though i have $11 in stars and won't be able to add anymore.

Change of Play

I really took a look at my strategy at heads up tournaments yesterday and drastically changed a few things. It's amazing how changing a few parts of my games has changed my results. Out of the 12, 10Euro heads up games i played tonight i won 11 and lost 1 and that was when i was 75% to win the hand.

My roll has now breached the 600Euro mark so am going to take a shot at the 20Euro games tomorrow and see how i get on.

Well job hunting is RIDICULOUS. I applied for a job with aviva (norwich union) and don't know wht i bothered. At the end it said it will do a credit check (will be very bad for me!) they will do a criminal record check (bad again) and they will check what you've been doing for the last 2 years (also bad). I then looked to get car insurance with aviva and they won't accept anyone with a criminal record for car insurance so i doubt they'll employ people with one. I had a meeting today with an agency that was supposed to help me find work. Instead they made me do a maths and english test and it was A JOKE. Questions like, what is the missing number. 8 + ? = 8 and what is half of 16? The english was just as bad, things like what word is spelt wrong? " I like this very mutch" It was a joke...

Am doing ok at poker. Have now turned the 13 euro i had into 515. I've been keeping more accurate records at Heads Up STT 10 Euro and am winning quite consistantly. I'm really going to give it a go at making proper money. I need to decide when to move up limits and also what MTT to play. There's no point winning 20 euro one day on STT and losing the same on tourney entries.

If i can (which i doubt) build my bankroll to 3-4k and consitantly win enough to get by then when my tag gets taken off in march i might just fuck off overseas and try and travel and win enough to take me on and on and on. That's the dream anyway. 500 Euro will probably be enough to get me to spain for a week so at least i have something to work from!!

Going Well

Well i can't find a job and the criminal record is a bit annoying!! My sisters back from Spain so am just spending time with her and my mum.

I have been playing quite a bit of poker. I had 13 euro in my Viegin account and have boosted that to just over 400. I'm doing really well in MTT at the moment. I won a 1euro rebuy and have 5 other final tables in about 20 tournaments, 2 seconds, 2 sixths and a tenth. I can't get on with heads up STT on virgin at the stakes i play i do better on pokerstars but cant get any money into there.

I was wondering, is it possible to play as a pro when all you do is play MTT??

Well Hi!!!

As i say i was sentenced to 2 years at the Edinburgh Sherriff court and sent to HMP Edinburgh. I was sentenced with a guy I know so it wasn't too bad being shipped there as at least i knew someone who i could share a cell with. It really wasn't as bad as i expected. I took Rossi's advice and kept myself to myself for a bit to get the lay of the land and got a job in the prison gardens cutting grass and picking up litter which was alright as it got me outside.

I was located in an enhanced wing of the short termers hall which meant i was low category. I shared a cell with my co accused for about 6 weeks until i moved into a single cell which gave me my own space. The main thing was the boredom. I started really hitting the gym mainly for something to do but really got into it and played football alot as well that was kind of like mean machine!

There was a poker game going during the association time so i joined it nearly as soon as i got there. They were playing a tournament between 4 of us for a half ounce of tobacco (about £2.65). This was shit though as you only really got an hour and a half so what they did if the game wasn't finished was to do a best out of three hands so it turned to luck. They also had a stupid blind structure of 10 and 20 with 10,000 chips to start so after a few weeks i started to get them to change the game. What we ended up doing was giving the people playing 3000 chips to start with and called that a buy in. What happened then is that the game was never ending and people could come and go as they pleased, if you won a load of chips and someone didn't have any you would sell them 3000 for £1 and every week the plus and minuses were added up for items off the canteen sheet. There was the odd argument about end of day totals written down but at the start it went quite smoothly. i was on average around £15 a week up which was good as we only got paid £9 a week. It grew so we always had a table of 10 playing but people started not playing so we had a rule that you couldn't play until you paid the debts. We then got a load of young dickheads playing and it ended up with me being up £60 one week and only getting paid £4 so i set up a new game with the original people to make it go smoothly which really fucked off one guy that was there playing so i had a couple of run ins with him....

They were all shite though and to be honest didn't really know how to play. There were a load of arguments over hands (most people thought the rule was that the higher kicker automatically won irrelavant of what was on the board) with the most arguments being when someone had a low pair and the board came up for example 9988K and i would say that the A4 has beaten the pocket 55 and it became a running joke me saying "i've got 3 pairs!". Nobody would spot the flush when there were four of a suit on the board but it did get frustrating when someone hit a 2 outer when they didn't really know what they were doing.

One funny thing that happened away from poker was down to the language difference. People in Edinburgh don't say "do you know?" they just say "Ken" and they call people George "Dod" this young guy just walked up to me and said "Ken Dod?" so I just said "yeah his dads dogs dead"... he didn't know who Ken Dodd was though so thought i was mad...

During the Norway v Scotland game a guy came up to me and said "Scotlands problem is that they can't afford to buy any decent players"!!!! Idiot.... I just said "Who do you want them to buy a couple of brazilians?!?!"

So i'm out and looking for work which is hard. It'll take ages as nobody is touching me with a barge pole due to my record. I did find 13 euros in my Virgin Poker account... not sure where that came from but have turned it to 200 but am only really playing for something to do. All the bank accounts attached to that account have been cancelled in the bankruptsy so even if i win i have no idea how to get the money out!!

Well i'm out.

I was sentenced to 2 years in HMP Edinburgh which meant i had to serve 12 months. I served 6 months and am now serving 6 months on a home detention curfew or Tag. I'll update more in a couple of days when my heads together.

Court

Well i got a phone call last Thursday from my solicitor saying an indictment had been served and i needed to be in court on Tuesday 17th February so yesterday. Yesterday was also my 30th birthday which seemed fitting seeing how my life seems to be going at the moment.

My solicitor is useless. On the phone he told me to bring photocopies of the character references i've got. He asked me yesterday for the originals. You told me to bring photocopies i said.. Why would i do that are you stupid he replied which pissed me off straight away, so it ended up in an argument with me saying "If you asked me to bring originals, why would i not do that? Tell me why i wouldn't? Do you think i think this isn't important??". He then basically said that the social worker and probation office reports the judge will get and the character references will make no difference whatsoever so i have to be back in court on the 17th March for sentencing and that'll be me in prison for a while i expect.

i was booked in the insolvency court on the 25th March for the bankruptsy but i've had to bring that forward to the 24th February so i'll be declared bankrupt next Tuesday and have to sort all my stuff out and get it stored somewhere before being back in court in Edinburgh on the 17th.

On a much much lighter note, and i expect others have noticed this too, but on the Churchill advert on TV at the moment with Rolf Harris in it, has anyone else noticed Rolf's "cum face" in the last few seconds of the ad, when it seems by the look on his face he has just ejaculated all over his digery do??? well am still here, no poker playe at all due to lack of funds and my computer exploding...

No news from court yet however i did get a letter from thames valley police doing me for "failing to stop after collision, failing to report a collision and driving without due care and attention" which i have no clue what they're talking about.. I also got a summons for non payment of council tax..

When will things start looking up?!?!

At least united are winning.. It makes me laugh, liverpool have been shit for weeks and when suddenly for once they MATCH united's result at the weekend suddenly THEY'RE BACK!! in the title race, how does that work??? We still have to play liverpool at old trafford and apart from the fact liverpool are shit, united should be 5 points clear and cruising. I think after 3 english teams in the champions league semi's last year was positive i think english clubs will stuggle this year, united should beat inter but will be interesting, and chelski arsenal and liverpool arn't playing fantastic football are they??

Fuck how i wish that was true and it was next year rather than this year...

Last year (2007) was a fucking bollox year for me with Kirsty leaving after 8 years together and trying and failing to adjust to life on my own. I remember thinking at this time last year that i hoped i would have a better year during 2008....

How wrong i was....

And next year is going to FAR FAR worse... That's not negative thinking that's just the reality with whats coming up for me.

2008 was a shit year, after spiralling out of control after Kirsty left i managed to get quite a serious drug addiction that has left me financially fucked now with bankruptsy procedings currently being finalised. In August i was arrested with shit loads of drugs and so finish the year on police bail pending court. Work found out what had happened so in October i was out of work, just about the time the global financial markets went batshit meaning it's hard trying to find work and slightly pointless with court coming up. No work means no money so the mortgage hasn't been paid in months and am living off £60 a week job seekers allowance...

So 2009 brings for me bankruptsy, along with this comes the repossesion of my house that Kirsty and I bought 5 years ago, court where my solicitor thinks i'll probably get between 2-5 years in prison, continued drug councelling, not being ever to find a job as good as the one i had (ever?).

So i hope everyone else has a good 2009, i'll hopefully have a good 2010...

So last night i played in the Pokerstars sunday warm up with one of the tickets i won in the bloggers tournament.

5800 odd entered and with 2400 left (850 paid) I had around 18000 chips when this hand happened that has got me a bit wound up... I'll explain my thinking and please let me know what you think because it's really annoying me...

Blinds are 400/800 and it gets folded round to me on the small blind. I make up the big blind and the big blind thinks about it for a bit and raises to 2400. My thinking here is that the big blind thinks that i have made up the big blind as i already have 400 invested so if he raises he'll get me to fold. As he's done this i plan on making a play on the flop as i can discount him having a premium holding as i don't think he would raise pre flop in that situation with a premium hand. At this point it makes no difference to me what my cards are i'm playing what i think my opponant has but for your information i have 10 5 off.

They bet 4000 on the flop into a pot of 4400, which i expected them to do and confirmed to me what i thought they had done pre flop. If they had hit a premium hand such as trip aces then i would expect a check and slow play with only 2 left in the hand. Even though i had made 2nd pair it didn't really have a big effect on what i was going to do with the situation i thought i was in..

I pushed with my remaining 15,600 or so.

Now with a a, 5, 3 flop there are so many hands i think they have to fold now, as i said i'd taken into consideration that they would be virtually all in so it was a decision for their tournament. I think they have to fold JJ,QQ,KK even is this situation, although i didn't believe them to have that.

Now here if they flip 33 or 55 or AA or i've read it wrong and fucked up then fine, but when they turn over K3 off i really can't believe it. I should be happy as i'm ahead and the hand has been played exactly they way i thought it had and they should have folded to the push with me picking up a nice pot but no...

King falls on the river and i'm eliminated.

How can you look at king 3 with that push and think it's good? It really makes no sense to me at all. What can you think you are beating??? There are so many hands that you are losinbg to, there's not much that you think you can beat!!! The other things that amazes me is that this is a $215 entry tournament thats once a week. It's not some freerole or $1 MTT or STT you can join again if you make a mistake..

I was pissed of after that so i contacted Joppa Road and asked if he wanted to play the Sunday Million last night on my account and split the winnings. Joppa then hit my curse of being the unluckiest person alive when he hit the nut straight on the turn only to get his all in called by another muppet wanting to hit a heart on the river which duly arrived knocking him out after he was threatening to cash...

I have some advice, if you are ever on pokerstars and see a player called United113 playing and he goes all in pre flop, call with any holding as that seems to be a sure fire way to win the hand...


EDIT - Just been knocked out of a $1 rebuy on Ipoker. 60 left out of 740 and i'm 4th in chips and get dealt KK, tournament leader who is hyper aggressive goes all in and i call to get beaten by J8off. What the fuck is going on??????? I win that hand i have double the next person in chips and am in a great position for the $630 1st prize. But no i get $9 for 3 hours work. Sunday Warm up

Well i'm using on of the $215 tournament entries i won in the blogger tournament in the sunday warm up at the moment... I do wish my luck would hold up sometimes....

I've just had QQ busted by 88 on a 6 high flop with an 8 on the turn, am now down to about 9,000 from a starting stack of 10,000.. average is 12257 and there are 4765 left out of 5836... Why do i always seem to lose these types of pots???

Well yesterday was rubbish. I somehow managed to watch 7 films... Bean, Shark Tale, Wallace and Gromit and The Curse of the Wererabbit, Transporter 3 and Die Hard 1, 2 and 3 back to back...

Today i went to the pub with my mate at 1 to watch the united v stoke game and stayed to watch soccer (friday) saturday and the arsenal villa game and then kind of stayed there till about half ten.. Whilst there a girl came in and said "happy Jesus Day" and continued to say that boxing day was special as it's the day jesus died... Now i'm not religious at all but had a good laugh at this girls expense...

Am a bit pissed now so AM NOT going to play any poker!!! I might watch die hard 4.0 though...

I hate christmas....

I'm not one for really celebrating christmas.... I haven't sent any cards, bought any presents and bollox to putting a tree or any decorations up. None of my family do really, my mum will probably come over christmas day and we'll have salmon for lunch like last year and be fuck bored all day... You can't get away from it, fucking Cliff Richard bastard songs being played in tesco and christmas shit everywhere... grrrrrr.... Christmas eve at the pub should be good, will get shitfaced and hopefully sleep through christmas, if santa visits my house he'll probably get smacked, me thinking that he is a debt collector from barclaycard coming to take stuff away....

Poker front got fucked out of the blogger final by a retard who should have been playing in the para olympic poker thats next week i think, or all the time apparantly on the Ipoker network... i HATE playing on there as i want to headbutt the wall whenever i play... Will probably play the sunday million this week and not cash as usual....

I've not got councelling for a few weeks and the courts are shut so i know i won't be in court till at least the end of january which is good, am kind of seeing my neighbour which is nice, especially good when you have no car it's not far to travel, not that thats why i'm seeing her of course she's lovely....

Apart from that nothing much going on, went to woolworths again and they had the pick and mix at half price... but as in the rest of the store, only the shit was left...

Blogger Final

Well the final of the blogger tournament starts in about an hour. There are 369 entrants and prizes for top 100 so hopefully i'll do well.

It's strange how i seem to get into a comfort zone of WHERE i feel ok playing. I'm staying at my brothers this weekend so will be playing on my mums laptop whilst sat with my brother, sister in law and mum. It was like this last night and couldn't really get into it. I did have Amatay on my table before i busted and it was a good crack.

Because of the whole comfort zone thing i decided not to play in the sunday warm up or Sunday million this week with the 2 x $215 tournament tickets i won on the blogger qualifier earlier in the week so i might have a pop at one or the other next week.

I'll let you know how i get on but qualification however unlikely for the PCA would be beautiful. I've been to the Atlantis resort on paradise island before with the ex misses and it's nice. To be honest it may bring back some bad memories so maybe an EPT entry would be better... Am not sure i'll be let in the bahamas, i don't think i'll be allowed to the states ever again....

Tonight's Qualifier

Well i spuuuuuunked out early tonight it was so frustrating.... I had around 6,000 chips with an average or 4,000 and there was a knobhead player at the table called Poker Magican who had been raising all in everyhand with premium holdings like 42off and 39sooooted. He had hit sooooo many flops so when i had AQ he raised as usual and i pushed and he called with 77 which held up.... I'm pissed off as i wouldnt have done that against anyone else and should have looked for a better opportunity and played the hand better......

Respect must go to Joppa Rd who finished 7th the other night in the NLHE qualifier out of 559 to win the same as me in a sunday gold package, he finished 16th out of 538 tonight for a step 3 ticket as well... good results...

The top ranking brits tonight were TheUKshark in 6th, PR)_rANDY in 9th and utdroad in tenth. utdroad had just said "it doesn't make a difference if you win does it?".. i was just responding "you want to finish in the top 9" when he busted... i didn't send it.....

Well i couldn't be arsed staying up to play the WBCOOP qualifier last night it wouldn't have finished till stupid times this morning and i had to be in Norwich for councelling at 12.30. I'll play the NLHE one tonight at 7.00.

I like the structure of these tournaments, i do much better in deep stack tournies for some reason and the 2500 starting chips and blind structures suit my play.

I've just found out that a girl i went to school with has got a download single out on itunes this week. They're trying to chart and the songs good... however due to shite factor you probably need "hallelujah" in the song title to chart this week, it's going to be in the chart 3 times with 3 peoples versions...

I had a bit of a result, my next door neighbour is moving away from her husband in January so i've said she can have all my furniture on kind of permanent loan which saves me putting it in storage whilst i'm inside.. as long as i get it back...

World Blogging Championship Of Online Poker

Well i ended up finishing 3rd out of 559 in the NLHE 2nd qualifier for the World Blogging Championship Of Online Poker last night and won a a "Sunday Majors Gold Package" Which consists of 2 x $215 tournament tickets.

I started off just wanting to qualify but as it got to the last 72 was in the top 10 in chips and was really pushing for the win. The final table started and to be honest i don't think i was playing very well till we got down a bit and then i started to be more aggressive and things started to happen. I ended up being knocked out when KK wasn't good enough against AQ all in pre flop but to be honest i'd hit a few flops earlier so was probably deserved.

Well i took my first punt at the World Blogger Championships of online poker yesterday playing the PLO qualifier. 450 entrants top 782 qualify for the final one 21st and top 45 or so get prizes. I was doing alright was above average with about 180 left running around 40th when i was dealt AAQQ clubs and diamonds. Flop came A 4 9 rainbow and i got the table big stack all in on the flop. He called with AKxx thinking he had aces witha king but ended up hitting runner runner for the flush. so many people playing hold em hands too strong in omaha.

I'm now an hour and a half into the 2nd qualifier (hold em). again top 72 qualify for the final and 45 get other prizes. Am 84th out of 251 with just above average stack..

Super Mario Bros

Well instead of playing poker i've found a great way of entertaining myself, type super mario bros into google and you can play mario 1, 2 and 3 from the old NES platform. How the hell i remember where all the warp zones and mushrooms are in beyond me seeing as the last time i played it was probably in 1990.

I watched Hancock and Batman Dark night recently which were both good, especially batman and went to see ocean colour scene that was a laugh. After oceon colour scene we ended up in Liquid a club in Norwich, fuck me it was funny... Now i'm not the greatest dancer but we were having a giggle at this bloke on the dancefloor and, i know this is wrong and you shouldn't laugh, but there was a women in a motorised wheel chair on the dancefloor and i'm sure the DJ put "spinning around" on on purpose... she was enjoying herself though which is the main thing but it was fucking funny...

I've registered for the pokerstars blogger tournament, i was useless in it last year but hopefully will do better this year, even though if i win i won't be able to go on the carribean adventure or an EPT but i could do with killing some time for 20 minutes before i get knocked out..

Bored Bored Bored

Well 've not updated for a bit, i've not really done anything of note to update about..

I've not heard anything new from court or my solicitor, i've not been able to find a job and it's getting to be a bad time of year to be looking. I have now been approved for job seekers allowance so £60.50 a week is now being paid directly into my mums account.

Am trying not to pay poker, my mates mansion account has dropped to about £70, some stupid beats and i think i'm playing so badly i just can't motivate myself to play.

I think i'm going to see Ocean Colour Scene at the UEA tonight which should be good!!

Apart from that just been sat at home doing nothing, i'm soooo bored... Right, its twenty past ten i think i'll eat some biscuits...

What a night....

Well i've just had a brilliant night. My friend Mike called me about five and said he'd managed to get 3 tickets for the Fratellis at the UEA for £20 and him and his brother Bobby would treat me. So of we went and had a storming night. I've not really been able to be myself since the arrest but i loved tonight, i was having a laugh with some girls stood around us before they started and was chatting indepth with a girl called Holly who i really liked and, not to sound to arrogant, i think liked me as i was really on form tonight. I didn't ask for her number or anything, to be honest i just felt good that i could have that conversation with someone as i haven't really been myself for a while.

Then the concert started....

So i am now sat just got home, my shirt is still on the stage at the UEA i think after some girl took it off and chucked it, i nearly got kicked out for crowd surfing, my shins have been kicked to shit and my jeans are ripped up the seam to me knee and i am slightly sweaty.... but it was a brilliant night, the concert was good but my good friends bobby and Mike helped me forget about everything thats going on, even if just for a night, and for that i am eternally gratefull x x

I've been doing alright today, mainly from being disciplined and concentrating (and a bit of luck as seen above). I've now played 31 $5 heads up STT and won 20 and lost 11 and won 2 out of 2 six seater $2 STT. I've stopped playing the double ups, in theory they're the same as heads up and i feel i can affect the outcome more obviously in the HU games and the 10 seaters take too long.

So I started with £100 of my mates money and now have £133 so £33 in 2 days i can live with. Statking is showing 4 hours of play at $5 HU STT with winnings of £26 (give or take you cant put in decimal places) at a winrate of £6.50 an hour.. However need far more sessions for an accurate summary

Discipline

Well the last few days on my mates Mansion account i've been messing around getting used to the skin and joining games that i thought looked ok so today i decided to start recording my results again and to start having a bit more discipline and concentrating more.

I started a new database in Statking and decided to play an hour of $5 heads up sit and goes and record the total win loss and keep doing that over loads of sessions to start generating hourly win rate etc etc. I'm also going to do the same with 6 seater $5 sit and goes and probably $5 10 seater double ups and again record the results.

I managed to get 7 games in the hour and won 5 and lost 2 for an hourly profit of £8.79. I'm not sure if he has rake back set up i'll have to check as i would have paid $3.50 in rake as well.. I don't take anything from these results as it's early days. If i'd lost the last game the profit would have been nearly nothing so i need loads of sessions to see what an accurate win rate is..

How many is beyond me though i suppose it's a work in progress..

On other terms i heard from my solicitor today and not much has happened in my case. Some other people have been arrested so it must be quite a big ongoing investigation. Hopefully i won't get pulled in for questioning again but i'm not sure, there's nothing i can tell them anyway..

I did have a laugh at the Governments way of helping us all financially by cutting VAT to 15%.. Does Alistair Darling not live in the real world?!?!?!

If someone was going to buy a table for instance that was £30 before it means it will go down to £28.46 saving £1.54 whcih i can tell you is really really really going to help alot of people, those table manufactureres are going to have a brilliant sales year...

My Crime....

Well i've been talking about concequences of what i've done and the message i got from cashbiatch on my previous post tells me i should say what i've done and then it may give people a better idea of the situation i'm in. It's funny i'm really ashamed of what it is which is why i tend not to mention it to people, but here goes...

My life was going really well up until January 07. I had a good job working for an american corporation, new house with my partner Kirsty who i loved dearly, poker going well though that isn't important and then this happened:

Everything went downhill for me there really and didn't really notice it happening. I started going out more and got in with the wrong crowd and got into drugs. Over a long period of time work was getting badly affected and i was spending stupid amounts of money and alienating friends and family. It got to the stage in august when i was arrested in edinburgh with a load of class A on me and am now on bail pending trial. I told work exactly what had happened and they let me resign before they sacked me. I'm now in so much debt that i will be made bankrupt in the next few months and lose my house. I'm in regular councelling sessions trying to get to the bottom of why this all happened.

It's strange really, the charge is serious but i'm getting good character references, as it IS out of character. Everyone is saying they can't believe how i managed to get myself into this, i can't either, but that doesn't stop me from feeling that i've let everyone down, it's hardly a conversation you want to have with your mum is it??

I told my ex before she emigrated to Australia with her new boyfriend who she met whilst we were still together and after 8 years together she is refusing to do a single A4 page character reference as is her family. I would understand if i'd done anything wrong but i didn't, she left me for someone else..

So i have no money at the moment, which is why i need work. I don't know when i'll be in court, They have a year to prosecute so anytime up to august. I wish it was tommorrow i just want it over and done with.

It's funny, i've been going over my archives, i went through a stage of not playing and now i can't win at $1 heads up sit and go's!! Have i got really bad? Has the standard improved? Or i just not in the right place at the moment to be playing? I expect the latter... these posts in my archive cheered me up a bit though, i could do with the same now!!

No Bankroll

Well i haven't a bank roll anymore... I don't like full tilt i've decided. Come to think of it i wish i had deposited onto Virgin, i feel more confortable there.I know in theory they're all the same but you do get attached to certain sites and i like Virgin. It's soon to be leaving boss for its own platform so it'll be interesting to see what it's like...

In personel terms, i signed on last week so am now getting £60 a week thats getting paid straight into my mums account as it'll be eaten up in mine. It's actually a sad state of affairs that i'm actually thinking about stacking shelves on a night shift in tesco when a month ago i was earning 36k with a brand new BMW company car, but I will get a high vis jacket at tesco..

I spoke to a couple of friends, one who owns a ham factory in Norwich that might have temporary work. I could have got a job with another friend who managers a branch of a finance office but you need to pass a credit check which i won't... I thought about getting bar work but my councellor said that wasn't a good idea..

I think my solicitor will call me tommorow, my mum called him for me to get him to call me as my phone's been cut off. He recently sent me a letter to sign saying i plead guilty so i need to know whether i still go to court to say i'm guilty or just for sentancing.. I also could do with knowing which prison i'll likely go to.. I'll be in court in edinburgh so probably there but hopefully i can get moved to Norwich...

Well i had councelling today in Norwich which was quite tough really, we got on to speaking about things that were difficult for me such as my dads death but i suppose it's all to help and it'll help in the long run...

It was hard as i was distant when i came out which i think might have upset my mum and my sister a little bit but they have been really good with everything thats happened so I think they don't like seeing me like that...

I still haven't got a character reference from my ex, it doesn't seem likely now either as it seems her dad was stalling for time when i asked him and she's now emigrated to spain with her new boyfriend....

I played some Poker tonight, and after blog chat with Marky ( http://pokerpains.blogspot.com/ ) i pplayed some more of the Full Tilt Matrix games and some more heads up. I think my problem is that the money is on my mind too much if i play higher limits and am worried too much about losing so dont play as aggresive as normal. I think because of this i need to build my bankroll so a loss at higher limits doesnt dent it so much. I cleared my first $5 bonus from Full Tilt so am now in profit again... just...

Well after last night i calmed down and played a bit just now... It seems like Full Tilt reaches into you head and realises the mood you're in and decides to fuck you up even more... At one stage i really felt like i could hear the site laughing at me... So many well... outdraws is probably the technical term, but 3 times in 3 games having it all in by far the best of it and to be spppppankkkeed in everyone made my sick, to the point on the last one me throwing the coins i had in my hand against the wall... it's probably time to stop when that happens Mr.Tilt isn't it????

So with bankroll now standing at $23.04 i think i'll drop to $2 limits for a bit to boost it to $50 then the next step up is the $6 i've been playing.

I looked at STT heads up $20 games on stars and won 273 and lost 174 which i didn't think was that bad?!?!

Will probably relax tonight, am quite tired as me my mum, sister and Suzy went on a boat trip to see the seals at Blakeney Point which was nice and i think my mum and sister will come over tonight for the united celtic game...

My sister came round this afternoon as her friend ~Suzy from Wakefield was coming down to stay and they're both staying at mine so we went out and i met up with my next door neighbour. I met up with her the other night and one thing led to another but she's currently in divorce proceedings with her husband.. I've lived next to them for nearly 5 years.... fuck me matt what are you fucking doing at the moment????? Jesus... So i feel unconfortable at home now, the only place i really had left...

I played for a bit tonight a bit drunk, pissed off in the wrong mood and as usual moved up limits top $11 heads up and spunked a load... Need to be sensible in fucking more ways then one incluyding my bankroll management...

Off to a good start

Well i managed to get some money from the car boot sale which i basically just handed straight back to my mum.. I created a Full tilt account in her name under the username United113mark2 and deposited $50 to have a punt.

I started playing some of the STT matrix tournaments which are a bit weird. 6 people join but you play the same 6 people on 4 different tables getting paid to finish in the top 2 of each table but you also get points for knocking players out and outlasting players. It seemed like a good idea but got all a bit too complicated really. I then started playing some heads up STT which is my preferred game at $6 limits and won a bit but then had aces cracked twice all in preflop so now have a bankroll of $53.43. So i'm $3 which is poor but still a profit.

I have a meeting with the C.A.B tommorrow to discuss my debt level and i'm expecting them to recommend bankruptsy. I know it probably seems strange talking about that and playing poker in the same post, but it's hard having no money and being at home all the time as you can't afford to do anything or have means of transport and there's only so much pottering about and watching telly you can do, so at least i can take my mind of things for a bit and play a bit of poker at small limits and hopefully win a timy bit.

Well my life has been all over the place lately, my house is in norfolk but spend most of my time in banbury or fulham so haven't really played lately..

I can't bring myself to sit down for hours and play online at the moment.. I have played against freinds recently quite a lot and do really really well, they are all beginners so it is easy though..

I do enjoy that though so may start visiting local clubs for a bit of fun and see how i do xx

Glastonbury

Well not posted for a while and not really played any poker so i thought i'd write about glastonbury last week.

It was brilliant as always, starting the weekend watching dynamo's rythm aces doing covers of spice girls and the who on a double bass was brilliant...

Friday saw the enemy, editors and thought rather than watch the kings of lyon or panic at the disco went to watch the stanton warriors which was superb. Saturday saw Jay-Z and simian mobile disco however my festival was nearly ruined as i walked close the the pyramid stage and heard a small amount of beautiful by james blunt..

Shit at poker as always but better at life

Well a week makes a bit of a difference.. I had a great talk with my best mate and it really helped me to talk to someone. I haven't played poker in a while and to be honest i don't think i will to the new year. I think i've hit a plateau with the games i'm playing and will not get better. I need to evaluate my game as i play the heads up games in autopilot now which is bad.

I will go over my goals for 2007 that i posted in January so we can all have a laugh!! My life has turned upside down since then so it'll be funny to see what i was projecting to win!!

Still Shit at Poker... and Life

I always seem to do well playing $20 heads up on stars, won $60 tonight in about an hour.. My problem is i haven't been playing very much. Since splitting up with the ex in January i have lived on my own. I'm not very good at that so stay away at mates, or away with work or in Banbury where my office is based and this girl i am kind of seeing (not that she knows this i think lol)

I'm in a bad place in my life at the moment.. I have a few minor problems and 1 super huge massive problem that has huge problems attached to it. I think it is now at the stage where i am going to need some professional help, and i need to tell my mum which i am dreading, but it's one of those problems that is so seriuos you dread telling but they'll really help you. That doesn't stop me not wanting to tell her though.

I like this blog, it is a good way to write the things i think, no close friends read this or aliases so i can air my issues, in a way it's like text councelling...

I'll keep posting when i'm home, am now off to Big Macs anonymous...

Not so good

Well i've not updated for a while so here goes and i could really do with your help and comments. This post is going to be like councilling for me, I don't know you reader, i may have had blog conversations but i am going to lay out, completely honestly, my life and any comments would be good.... This may be a long one....

If you have read my blog then you will know that me and my long term girlfriend split up in january. Even though we were having issues, i think one of the reasons was my poker play. She went to New York for 3 months august 2006 and the month before she went Virgin Poker were running one of their STT challenges to win en EPT copenhagen seat. Virgin had run one of these before with 2 WSOP side event seats as prizes along with flights and accomodation etc and, as a poker player, would have loved to have gone. Now i don't see myself as a great player that could win a big satellite to win a seat, but the system Virgin were running (STT results: 10 player STT win 5 points, 5 player STT win 3 points and heads up STT win 1 point meant that by just amount of play you could win) i felt that i could win. It just so happened that during the first challenge which I had started ok, myself and my now ex misses had a 2 week holiday to the bahamas booked. Now i don't like sitting on the beach all day every day, so some days i would go and sit in their internet room and play poker. It was a windowless room where i couldn't concentrate properley and realising my misses was getting pissed off by this I stopped playing. this however made me annoyed slightly as i really really wanted to go to the WSOP. Next time Virgin ran this tournament i thought THIS TIME!!!... So the month before she was going I was playing all the time and, ven though this will sound selfish, it was HER leaving for 3 months not me and she commented later on that i was more interested in the poker then her. I ended up splitting the prize with m3monster http://m3monster.blogspot.com/ and was told by Virgin that i could go to the WSOP 2007 and play a side event. My misses came back and we eventually split up and i don't know whether this was a reason, but at the time all i wanted was to be a pro poker player.

I started playing more when she left, all the time playing only $20 heads up sit and go tournaments on Pokerstars and was constantly winning. Once i tried moving up to $50 and lost a bit so moved straight back. I was winning a bit, but nowhere near enough to live on, around $400 a month every month. I don't know why but i always thought that to be a pro and good poker player you had to play cash games so i started playing cash on Full Tilt (to get rakeback) and Virgin. I would win a lot and then lose it all and more with hands i couldn't get away with. I would hold AA for example, the flop would come K 6 9 rainbow, all would go in with me thinking AK and my opponant would hold KK. Another point was when i had AK and the flop came A K 7 rainbow, i raise guy goes all in, how do i get away??? I call and he holds 77. The biggest pot i lost which was really bad was holding jack 10 suited. No raise before the flop and i'm in the big blind, the flop comes J 10 10, i bet, guy raises, i re raise and he pushes, i call turn 8 river K. No i know i did the right thing and was outdrawn but when you win those hands and win $50 and i lost $500 to a $1000 pot on this hand it's difficult to get back.

I bought poker tracker and linked it to Full tilt and played cash on there. I have been playing a while so played $0.25 - $50 and $1-$2 and was up for a bit but now after around 3,000 hands am $1000 down. I played $2 - $4 once and in the first hand lost the buy in when my AA was beaten by KK. My problem seems to be winning not a lot with premium hands and either being outdrawn or not being able to get away winning hands. I cashed high in a MTT on Pokerstars and started being stupid and playing $50, $110 and $220 heads up STT on Pokerstars and was doing ok but that was way out of my bankroll. What do i do? Can i be succesfull playing heads up STT or do i play that just to win $400 a month?? How do i get away from big hands like listed above???

I recently haven't played much at all, i met another girl who i have just split up with yesterday. She kept telling stories that i believed were not true, culminating in her telling me last night she was pregnant as i was walking out. She called later and i told her i was going to go round there in the morning with a pregnancy test, and half an hour later she was on the phone with her neighbour telling me she was having a miscarriage....

With everything thats happened in my personell life i haven't played that much and i think i got disallusioned with the cash game defeats. One thing that poker traker did highlight was the amout of rake you actually pay playing cash games... Fuck me... You don't miss it when they take it but it does accumalte a LOT.. I did have a thought though.. Would you like it if the poker room took DOUBLE rake as you don't miss it when they take it, but give you half of it back every month??? That would give you a nice bonus from money you don't miss when they take??

Anyway my head is fucked from everything that has happened, but please comment on anything that i have said, poker related or not, as any support would be greatly appreciated.

Also i have been out with a girl from my work. nothing happened but we got on really well and i really like her (she'll probably turn out to be a mentalist knowing my past history..). The issue is, is that i am 28 and she is 18 but an old 18 if that makes sense. Now if i was 40 ans she was 30 or 35 and 25 then i have no problem with that.. To be honest i don't have a problem with her being 18 but some people I have mentioned it to do.. What do you all think??? Is 18 to young as they are still not classed as an adult till 21??? She is an old 18 though so mature, funny and we get on well??? What do you all think????

Feeling good and need help with figures!!!

Well i've finally started doing things a bit more correctly. By this i mean i have finally set up a poker tracker system (poker tracker) and have started playing at a site that gives me rakeback and started playing there. It's funny how i seem to play more sensibly when i keep looking at my tracker!!!

So far i have played 1154 hands at $1 - $2 short handed and have won $606.70 with a 13.14 BB/100 hands.

I realise thats not brilliant but it's a profit!! I never realised how much you actually paid in rake.. $223 so far... That to me shows that a $600 profit isn't great. I will receive my rakeback on that though.

I know it is a very very low sample size i have, how many hands do you need to play before you have a good sample size??

What is a good BB/100 Hand rate???

When will it change........

Blog Idea

Now i have had my blog for a while and i read other peoples. I have had an idea today and wondered if anyone was interested in it.

I update my blog as often as i can, normally once or twice a week. There are some hardcore bloggers who update their blogs more often however normally people don't so you check for updates and it's the same post you read before. On these blogs, unless it's a mental scary blog like Ed Hollis's (88% concentration) then you get the same type of reports from the same people all the time, how much they have won, bad beats etc.

What my idea is is to get 4 or 5 bloggers who update about as often as i do, and actually have the SAME blog. This way we can create something more interesting with more frequent posts about different games and the different levels the bloggers play at.

Surely this will be more interesting to people???

If anyone is interested in this (you don't have to cancel your own blog if you don't want to, just update every so often on another) please post a message and i'll see what responce i get.

Well the cash games have been getting me down a bit. I always get caught out in the same way. I build nicely and profit well then get stung for everything...

So i think i'm about even for the month now, played a few MTT and got busted, it beggers belief the calls some people make... $5000 gtd rebuy on boss, 223 entries 50 left, dealt KQ flop K Q 9, relatively short stacked (5000) blinds 300 600, 2400 in the pot so it was a large all in move.. Guy calls with 7 7 and hit a 7 on the river.. How can you think you are ahead in that situation?? Is it the limits i play?? $10 rebuy...

Going to take a break, find myself playing to often and it is starting to get me down, i might take up something i may enjoy more and start punching myself repeatadly in the head...

It's funny though, when i was down to $500 i thought "you've lost $600 (£300) you could have done loads with that and should of taken it out.. Now i am back up to that do i take it out or keep it in??

Only played for an hour or so today. Started off on $1-$2 and dropped half a buy in.. i really hate that game!! Moved to $2 - $4 and won a few big hands. Noticably there was a raise and re raise and i has aces so i pushed all in, one fold and a guy called for about $450 and had 10 10.. Decided to quit whilst i was way ahead!!

Played some $0.50 - $1 on Virgin first and took the $200 down to $55. I don't know what it is with the lower levels, the calls people make are unbelievable. You can't over bet the pot to get people off draws and ace rag seems to be everyone's favourite hand.

Stupidly (even though it worked) i took the last $50 and moved to a $1 - $2 table and stuck in on there and within about half an hour i had built it up to around $350. Am going to quit soon after a relatively succesful first day, almost doubling my initial bankroll

Variance and Bank Roll Challenge

Well i cleared all my bankroll as i needed the money. Playing the Cash games i was playing was fine but the variance was huge... I was up a lot then level and ended up down slightly after i lost a big pot with aces.

So i have left $200 in my Virgin account and i am going to build up gradually and see where i can end up at the end of July.

basically all the chips went in and he spiked a king on the river to make a bigger full house.. That was a $900 pot so if i win that i'm well up but these things happen..

A $250 profit for the day is fine by me...

I seem to find the $2-$4 tables easier to play then the lower limts as there are less idiots and everything seems to be going well at the moment...

Well i have started playing cash games for the last few days...

On Pokerstars yesterday i played a variety of $1-$2 up to $2-$4. No when you play heads up sit and go's there isn't much variety in winnings. I win constantly just not a lot...

Yesterday i managed to blow $900 on stars so i fired up Virgin today and played some $2-$4 and $3-$6 and am $950 up for the day..

All this really shows me is that i need to find a site that offer a good rakeback deal now i am playing cash at these limits... Stars don't, boss might if i push them but i will have a scout around for the best deals..

Any ideas?? Do they automatically transfer the rakeback into your account??

Glastonbury and Vegas

Well i've not played too much poker since my last post as i've been at Glastonbury, so as i write this i am still trying to de mud myself...

It was ok and Pete Docherty is a fucking idiot...

I am supposed to going to Vegas this week but after checking flights they are now stupidly expensive. If virgin had given me the money in time they were £500 are now well over a grand so i'm not sure if i'm going to go or not...

Now the call on the turn was a bit loose as i put a king in his hand for the straight but figured if the board paired i'd clean him out which is what happened so i had huge implied odds...

Was about level for the day playing $50 Heads up sit and go's and $110 heads up turbo sit and go's and decided to play some $1 - $2 cash on poker stars. Was playing about $215 when i get dealt Ks Jh in the big blind. 1 player minimum raises so i call and 2 see the flop which comes Kd 4h jd. I bet guy re raises and i push all in, turn 7d river 10 d. He shows king jack with the fucking king of diamonds so i lose wto the flush ith the same fucking hand.. Minus $200.

Honestly why does this happen everytime i play higher limits or for the big pots???

I have finally worked out how i am going to win more money at poker!!! and that is to play more...

I'm still playing $20 heads up games on pokerstars, after the email conversations i had with the poker room manager at Virgin there still has been no change in the heads up games there. I know this is going to make me sound really big headed but i am so confident at them moment playing these games on pokerstars and i feel i am better than anyone i play. I'll list my sharkscope stats below which i think are ok but please feel free to rip them apart and let me know what you think of them.. Should i move up limits? Are they good or average or poor??

I have finally heard from Virgin last Friday. They said they will transfer $4000 into my virgin account to pay for thge WSOP vegas trip. I plan to play at event 49 a NLHE 3 day event but that stars in a couple of weeks and i still have nothing booked and they money hasn't been transferred so virgin and me better pull our fingers out quickly...

Update - WSOP still not getting anywhere...

Well i haven't been playing an awful lot in the last couple of weeks. What i have been doing when i have been playing is either playing 5 handed $20 STT for an hour on Virgin and see how much i am up or down in that time frame. I have been up every session but should have really won more. When i get down to 3 left (2 paid) i find myself being too aggressive, should i get into the money first and then try to win or is it right trying to win all the way through even if it means going out on the bubble???

I have also been playing $20 heads up games on Full tilt and Pokerstars and been doing ok.

I still haven't had confirmation from Virgin about the WSOP side event. This has been going on for a while now and the tournament is approaching rapidly...

Virgin Poker STT Challenge and South Africa

Well they posted the results for the 3rd week of the STT challenge and i came 4th with 100 points... I only played for a day and a half and thought i'd walk it... whoopsssss. I can't play next week so i'll give it a good push on the final week, not that i'm too bothered as the prize is entry to a WSOP event i'm already going to be in, i just figured i could swap one for something else!!.

I deposited some money into full tilt recently to see what it was like and to be honest, i now find all these sites to be much of a muchness... i have double my initial deposit of $100 in a couple of days so thats not bad. I have started playing short handed single table tournaments as the heads up was doing my head in a bit...

Anyway on to the holiday... I had a great time!! I started off in Cape Town for 3 days and did all the usual tourist stuff such as table mountain and Robben Island where Mandela was in prison. I met some cool people from Bristol who were over there scuba diving so spent the evenings with them. I also did the great white shark cage diving which is a must for anyone who goes to south africa, it was superb!!



After being in Cape Town i drove up the garden route to Knysna where i stayed with some friends. From there i went to a few wildlife places where i also did a cage dive with crocodiles and stroked some pussies (cheethas and lions...!!!) and also did the bungee jump off Bloukrans Bridge.. 216 metres and fucking shite myself.... i also did the skydive over Plettenburg Bay which was really good fun but not quite as scary as the bungee....

I then drove 8 and 1/2 hours to Bloemfontein to stay with friends of a friend i have never met... These two girls opened the door and i thought "Thank you god"". Was expecting two mingers and well see below...

Safe to say my next trip is being planned as i write this....

Virgin STT Challenge

Virgin are doing their STT challenge with 2 WSOP trips available as prizes.

The structure is slightly different to last time, there are 5 weekly winners who then play an final STT. I wasn't going to bother but then realisedi could hit the type of points needed to reach the final playing madly for only a couple of days.. i had to play non stop for a month last time...

So i am currently playing 2 5 seater STT and a heads up whilst trying to write this so i'll update later and let you know how i get on...

I'm Back

Well i'm back from south africa and had a great time.... There was loads to do and i met a load of really nice people, i'll post some videos and photos when i get myself sorted out.

I didn't play poker once whilst i was there, i have come back and got no further really with Virgin and the WSOP... I did have some communication with the poker room manager about certain games but he has not spoken to me since i told him what limits i play!!!

Virgin are running their STT tournament again until the end of may, slightly different to last time but i think i'll give it a pop anyway...
